Expiry Date vs Preffered Date

You may have this confusion when buying a food product. When it comes to buying and consuming food products, you may see "Date of Expiry" and the "Preferred Date" in its label.

The "Date of Expiry" is a indicator of when a food product is expected to reach the end of its shelf life.

It means that the point beyond which the manufacturer cannot guarantee the safety or quality of the product.

Consuming products after their expiry date may contain potential health risks, because its ingredients may degrade or produce harmful bacteria.

On the other hand, the "Preferred Date" or "Best Before" date is more about quality than safety.

This label suggests that the product is expected to be at its peak freshness, flavor, and texture until the specified date.

While it's best to consume the product before this date do not worry, consuming it afterward generally doesn't pose any health risks.

Lets understand that the product past its preferred date might not taste as fresh  but it is not necessarily unsafe to consume.

Well, several factors contribute to determining these dates. Manufacturers consider the nature of the ingredients, the packaging, and storage conditions.
